Ben Maitland has extensive experience of both private and business immigration allowing him to successfully navigate the UK’s ever-changing immigration system for his clients.

Ben’s legal career across has been exclusively in immigration law for a wide variety of business, including multi-national law firms, public bodies, the education and health sectors (including the NHS), charities as well as individuals and their families.

He advises on all aspects of the sponsor licensing system and the Skilled and Temporary worker routes, including Skilled worker and Global Business Mobility routes as well as non-sponsored routes such as Graduate, Global Talent, Start-Up, Innovator and High Potential Individuals.

His work includes EU law/EU Settlement Scheme, advising individuals, families as well as employers who want to reassure and assist their EU workforce.

Ben provides High Net Worth individuals tactical advice on how to obtain Indefinite Leave to Remain and British citizenship, especially in complex cases where applicants are at risk of failing to meet all the required criteria.

He has a wealth of experience conducting Human Rights Article 8 applications, spouse/partner applications and Immigration Appeals, Administrative review and Judicial reviews.

Ben provides expert opinions for both claimants and respondents with regard to insurance claims which have an immigration element to them, affecting the scope of damages.

Ben also writes articles and presents on immigration matters too.

Ross Kennedy
Senior Client Manager

Ross brings over a decade of advising corporates and individuals and a proven track record of practice-leading immigration nous to the firm.

He has built a reputation for himself as a safe pair of hands across the wide range of challenges of personal and business immigration.

After leaving the Civil Service, Ross was previously Practice Manager and a senior at two immigration firms of global repute before joining Vanessa Ganguin Immigration Law in 2021. Ross has a wealth of experience working with corporate clients of all sizes, from start-ups, SMEs and charitable or religious organisations to large multinational companies.

He regularly advises on applications for licences to sponsor skilled workers (including on UKVI compliance requirements, mergers, restructuring and TUPE, as well as training HR teams) and assists with visa applications for skilled workers, temporary workers, sole representatives, as well as creative and sports personalities. He also advises private clients on personal applications, from high net worth and highly skilled clients to family, UK ancestry and British citizenship.

Ross is a regular participant of the Immigration Law Practitioners Association (ILPA) Economic Migration Working Group and a contributing author for Lexis PSL.

Eralda Shullazi

Associate Solicitor

Eralda is experienced across the full range of UK private and business immigration law, working in areas such as family member applications, skilled worker sponsorship, British citizenship applications and post Brexit applications for European nationals. She also has experience with human rights and asylum applications and court appeals, including work with the Ahmadiyya Muslim community.

Eralda enjoys a great track record of positive outcomes for all manner of clients. Prior to joining Vanessa Ganguin Immigration Law, Eralda completed her training contract with an established London law firm where she spent the majority of her training within the Immigration Department working closely with her colleagues on a range of different immigration applications including entrepreneurs and investors.

Eralda is fluent in Albanian.

Léa Rival

Léa has a solid understanding of the sponsor licence process and the duties sponsors must fulfil as well as Global Talent visa applications.

She also has experience working on human rights appeals and asylum applications, as well as cases involving sensitive and complex immigration histories.

Léa is a native French speaker and a keen linguist. She is also fluent in Spanish and has started learning Arabic.

Léa developed a keen interest in issues faced by EU citizens in the face of Brexit and the EU Settlement Scheme through her volunteering work. Prior to her career in immigration law, Léa completed her LLB with First Class Honours at Durham University and worked on several campaigns to raise awareness about FGM, honour-based violence and forced marriages with the HALO pro bono project. Léa continues to be passionate about human rights.

Alexandra Miradi

Alexandra has experience working in many different areas of private immigration law, such as British citizenship applications and family applications. She has also worked on many successful asylum and human rights appeals.

Alexandra began her legal career at another prestigious London boutique immigration firm where she worked across a large range of UK immigration cases, from High Net Worth clients to complex appeals by people at the sticky end of Home Office policy. Her work has included pro bono work on matters such as the Windrush scandal and revocation of deportation orders.

Prior to that, Alexandra studied various areas of law at SOAS University, such as Islamic law, and Southeast Asian Law. She has also recently completed her LPC and Masters in Legal Practice at BPP University, receiving a Distinction.

Alexandra has also contributed much of her time towards working for the charity Support Through Court, where she helped litigants in person navigate complex legal matters, such as child arrangement and financial provision applications and worked on many domestic violence cases.
