After the UK’s new Home Secretary Yvette Cooper gave a speech outlining some of the Labour government’s intentions when it comes to immigration law – especially for family and work immigration – Vanessa Ganguin Immigration law’s Senior Associate Ben Maitland provided LexisNexis some news analysis summing up what we can surmise from the Labour government’s pronouncements on immigration so far.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper delivered a statement to the House of Commons which promised to keep most of the last government’s five point plan to reduce UK immigration, though the Minimum Income Requirement in the Family Immigration Rules currently set at £29,000 would not rise any higher as planned, while the Migration Advisory Committee reviews the financial requirements to bring family to the UK.
