After quizzing Government Minister James Cleverly on the new Homes for Ukraine scheme for sponsoring refugees, LBC radio’s Nick Ferrari invited Philip Trott on his morning show again in a radio segment in which he expressed disquiet about the UK’s new humanitarian scheme for Ukrainians without settled family in the UK.

The LBC talk show host reiterated anti-immigration talking points about the refugee route launched this week after criticism that the UK had not matched the response of European neighbours.  Vanessa Ganguin Immigration Law’s Senior Counsel Philip Trott patiently answered Nick Ferrari’s concerns and revealed that he had offered his home up to “those in flight from bombing in the Ukraine.”

You can listen to the exchange here:

Businesses, along with individuals, charities, organisations and community groups will soon be able to volunteer accommodation and a route to safety for refugees from the Ukraine invasion.

The homesforukraine.campaign.gov.uk website is now live for people to register their interest as Philip has in the new community sponsorship scheme to host Ukrainians and their immediate family (who were in the Ukraine before 1 January 2022).
